Evidence/activity/anecdote: The evidence I am using for this standard I have done for many years. At the beginning of the school year the students and I generate the class rules. The students sign the rules poster saying that they agree with the rules. We spend a lot of time going over the routines of the classroom. The schedule is posted every day and we go over it each morning.
Impact on student’s learning: When students have a hand in making the rule they tend to take them more to heart than if they are just hand a list. The students have all signed the agreements and it is posted in the classroom. I can refer to the poster if need be. Posting the schedule and discussing it in the morning helps relieve the anxiety that some student have as the know what is going to happen throughout the day.
